Habitat:

Dry to dry-mesic sandy soils (usually with admixture of shell hash) of coastal fringe sandhills or mainland maritime forests, usually associated with Quercus hemispherica, on barrier islands or within about 10 km of the ocean (NC, SC), pine flatwoods (FL, GA).
